Resources for Greening Your Business

When there is so much else to worry about when it comes to running a business, ways of making for business more energy efficiency may not be at the top of your list. There are many resources out there to help you make it happen. In the long run, making your business more energy efficient will save you money. There is no need to do it alone. First there is the Connecticut Green Building Council who “The CTGBC is a non-profit 501(c3) organization that seeks to improve the quality of life in Connecticut through the promotion of intelligently designed and constructed high performance energy efficient buildings. Throughout the year we hold a series of workshops on green building topics, networking opportunities, membership meetings, educational forums, seminars on green buildings and periodic CT based LEED training in connection with the US Green Building Council. The CTGBC also monitors activities in Connecticut related to high performance green buildings and maintains a speaker’s bureau.” They are a wonderful resources to start from and they can guide you to other resources out there.
Don’t forget about your local utility. With the new laws and funding in Connecticut they can also help get you started. Go to CL & P or UI.

The U.S. EPA is also a good resource to find out basic information about the laws in your state. And the U.S. Department of Energy also has a lot of resources for businesses. Their website can be difficult to navigate at times, but they are in the process of redesigning and maybe it will make it easier to find the information that you are looking for.

There are many more resources out there, but these are a good start. You also contact us about getting an energy analysis for your building, to find out the best way to replace your system to make for business more energy efficient.
