YANMAR COMBINED HEAT & POWER
YANMAR’s Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system uses an internal combustion engine, powered by clean natural gas, to produce both heat and electric power. Because of this high-powered energy collaboration, energy costs are reduced by 20-50%.
CHP applications involve the recovery of wasted engine heat to produce excess thermal energy and electricity. The average efficiency of fossil-fueled power plants in the United States is 40%, compared with YANMAR’s 88% efficiency. Most power produced by traditional fossil-fueled plants is wasted in the form of heat discharged into the atmosphere. With YANMAR CHP technology, the heat that is normally lost in the engine’s exhaust system is recovered to provide a useable commodity. The retained excess heat can therefore be used to create hot water for laundry or dishwashing, or for space heating, cooling, and dehumidification.
It is by combusting natural gas to generate electricity and recover wasted heat that YANMAR’s CHP system is able to achieve that 88% total system efficiency. This high-efficiency percentage can then be used for its intended purpose –to provide heat and electric power to buildings and other infrastructure.

Why YANMAR CHP energy units?
Cost-Efficient
As electric prices continue to increase, you can benefit from significant utility bill cost savings by switching to abundant natural gas or propane.
Versatile
By using a YANMAR CHP system as your primary power source, you are no longer solely reliant on the grid for your company’s viability or personal comfort. You now have the option to have power when the grid fails or in remote areas not currently served.
Environmentally Friendly
By using energy efficiently, your carbon footprint can be reduced by as much as 50% over conventional means. According to U.S. EPA CHP Partnership calculations, a YANMAR 10kW CHP heat and power system can reduce enough greenhouse gases to offset the carbon footprint of seven cars on U.S. roads.
Functional
With YANMAR CHP’s blackout start option, you can ensure your heat and electricity remain uninterrupted even during a blackout. High efficiency inverters convert YANMAR CHP’s generated electrical output into DC voltage and frequency with built-in protection and a synchronization device required for grid interconnections.
Easy to Install
YANMAR’s comprehensive technical training curriculum develops certified technicians prepared in all phases of design, installation, commissioning and service.
Energy Efficient
By utilizing a highly efficient engine and capturing nearly all of the remaining energy as heat, the heat and power producing YANMAR CHP system can be up to 2.6 times as efficient as your current centralized power.
Quiet
YANMAR CHP Units are reliably quiet.
TEDOM COMBINED HEAT & POWER
TEDOM CHP (Combined Heat and Power) units are designed for highly efficient production of both electricity and heat. With an efficiency of around 90%, and in some cases even exceeding 100%, these units maximize energy output from fuel.
TEDOM has delivered over 10,000 CHP units to more than 50 countries worldwide. The design of each model is focused on making the units as efficient and easy to install as possible. We ensure a long service life and high reliability through the continuous development of all components and optimized service intervals. The operation of TEDOM CHP units is fully automatic, allowing for remote monitoring and control via an internet connection.
Versatile Fuel Options
TEDOM CHP units can operate on a wide range of fuels beyond natural gas or propane. They are capable of running on various types of biogas produced from agricultural waste, municipal landfills, or wastewater treatment. Additionally, they can use coal mine gas from active or closed mines, as well as associated gas from oil extraction, to generate electricity.
