CONTROL RISING ENERGY COSTS AND REDUCE YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT
There are many ways to make your business more energy efficient. A few of the most important ways are through energy management systems, analyzing your utilities, and updating equipment to new energy efficient models. The best solution will vary depending on your business.
The engineers at Controlled Air, Inc. are able to create computer models of buildings to simulate requirements for energy based on weather, use and occupancy. Our energy modeling software allows us to compare different solutions and determine the most cost-efficient to operate.
Our energy evaluations identify ways you can save on energy costs. By running simulations with various equipment, we can determine baselines according to code requirements and then try higher efficiency systems.
Utilities will pay the incremental cost to move from a standard system to higher efficiency systems. We then compare operating costs and installation costs for maximum efficiency and incentives. Our computer models are based on the U.S. Dept. of Energy (DOE-2) standards.
Controlled Air makes it our priority to maximize energy incentives for our customers. Control energy costs, reduce your environmental footprint, and increase the value and competitiveness of your buildings.
Maximizing Rebates & Incentives
The experts at Controlled Air are well-versed in all available energy rebates, incentives, and tax credits your project may qualify for. Our priority is to ensure our customers receive the maximum benefits possible.
Details of these programs change frequently, and we make it our business to stay on top of developments as they occur. Note that your project must often be approved before any work begins, so get in touch to find answers for all your questions and learn more.
Variable Frequency Drives
With variable frequency drives, motors can run at predetermined speeds to optimize system requirements and energy efficiency performance on fans and pumps.
Annual chiller energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by as much as 30% since lower compressor speed causes reduced wear. Systems can be programmed to run at times that take advantage of off-peak energy rates. Incentives are available from utility companies.
Air Conditioning
Controlled Air specialists can design environmental systems for any building or complex. Cost-efficient heating and cooling units and co-generation systems are our specialty.
Complete digital control systems come with electronics, power supplies, installation enclosures and pneumatic interfaces. Everything you need can be included to implement building-wide strategies for comfort and facility management. We specify and install the highest EER (energy efficient ratio) equipment, dual enthalpy economizers and demand control ventilation. Our systems are designed to optimize incentive and rebate opportunities from utility companies.
Boilers
With 95% efficient condensing boilers, heat goes into the building, not up the chimney. These systems are fully modulating and provide the output actually required at any given time. We can also install standard efficiency boilers.
Energy Management Systems can be programmed to run the boilers so that energy use is minimized and productivity maximized.
LEED
Controlled Air provides all support to get buildings accredited by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. LEED is a voluntary consensus-based national rating system for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings.
LEED covers all building types and emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality. Our design teams work with our customers to develop structures that meet LEED qualification requirements from silver to platinum status.
We have 2 LEED certified AP employees and one ground source heat pump certified expert on staff that can help a building become LEED Certified.
Rebates & Incentives
Note: Many of these programs require pre-approval before any work is started or you could lose your opportunity for funding. Specifics on available programs change frequently. Contact us to learn about the latest programs you may qualify for.
State Rebates & Incentives
In Connecticut, Controlled Air can give you more information on such programs as:
- CPACE
- Low interest loans for commercial and industrial customers
- CLM Financing Small Business Municipal Loan Program
- Cool Choice Rebate
- Cogeneration and Solar Grants
Federal Rebates & Incentives
Tax deductions for commercial buildings for certain eligible technologies:
Solar Water Heat, Solar Space Heat, Geothermal Electric, Solar Thermal Electric, Solar Thermal Process Heat, Solar Photovoltaics, Wind (All), Geothermal Heat Pumps, Municipal Solid Waste, Combined Heat & Power, Fuel Cells using Non-Renewable Fuels, Tidal, Wind (Small), Geothermal Direct-Use, Fuel Cells using Renewable Fuels, Microturbines, Offshore Wind
LREC & ZREC
This LREC (low emissions)/ZREC (zero emissions) program is a bidding process for projects to compete to obtain a 15-year revenue stream from the sale of RECs (Renewable Generation Credit) to the electric utilities.
Utility companies will pay you for the renewable energy your produce that is above and beyond what you need for your building. The utility companies then sell the renewable energy to other customers.
Lowering Utility Expenses
At Controlled Air, our goal is to offer our customers energy efficient, cost effective, and high return on investment for their HVAC needs. But we realize that even when we update HVAC systems, utility bills can still be high because of utility company rates.
To save our customers even more money, we have partnered with energy companies that offer reduced rates and alternative energy. We submit your current utility bills for analysis to determine how much money can be saved each month. This analysis is absolutely free. Fixed rates on utilities are available for 12, 24, or 36 months, allowing for predictable costs. Our clients have saved as much as 20% on their utility bills as a result. Fixed rates are a great opportunity when utility companies raise rates twice a year. Green and renewable energy sources are available.
Contact Controlled Air to get a Free Energy Study, which will analyze your current utilities and see how much money you can save each year.
