Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Field Service to troubleshoot, repair, start-up and maintain HVAC units and systems.
- Foster and sustain customer relationships through effective communication and service excellence.
- Identify and propose sales opportunities.
- Offer effective resolutions to customer issues.
- Collaborate with Service Department supervisor and dispatcher to schedule and execute service repairs and maintenance.
- Submit timely and accurate reports of all service work.
- Availability to support extended hours may be needed during service emergencies and peak seasons.
- Mentor and train apprentices and junior technicians to facilitate their professional development.
Requirements:
- Possess a S2 10 years license or equivalent experience.
- EPA certification Type Universal
- Strong mechanical knowledge of HVAC systems to include but not limited to rooftops, split systems, boilers, chillers, furnaces, and heat
- pumps, VRF systems, AAON RTU’s and some controls experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
Capable of adjusting to the physical requirements of commercial tasks, such as working in varying temperatures, lifting heavy loads, and working at heights on ladders and elevated surfaces.

Position Summary
Controlled Air Inc., a division of Yanmar Energy Systems North America (YESNA), is seeking a highly skilled professional with experience in internal combustion engines and/or generator service, maintenance, repair, and overhaul. This role will support the commissioning, startup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and overhaul of cogeneration (Combined Heat and Power – CHP) systems manufactured by TEDOM, a Yanmar Group company based in the Czech Republic. These high-efficiency gas engine generator systems are installed across the United States and Canada, primarily throughout the Northeast region.
- The selected candidate will undergo extensive factory and field training at:
- TEDOM – Czech Republic
- MWM – Mannheim, Germany
- Training will require approximately 3–4 months of extended international travel.
Upon successful completion of training, the technician will serve as the Lead Commissioning and Field Service Technician, responsible for startup, warranty support, and ongoing lifecycle maintenance of cogeneration installations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintain inventories of parts and consumables to ensure minimal equipment downtime
- Safely operate and maintain a company-owned commercial vehicle
- Work in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining good housekeeping and Commission new cogeneration systems sold directly by Tedom and under subcontracts with other TEDOM distributors throughout the US and Canada
- Conduct routine service (inspections, functional checks, oil and spark plug changes) at regular intervals according to TEDOM and vendor maintenance schedules
- Perform factory-certified preventive maintenance (hardware adjustment and replacement: valves, pistons, cylinder heads and liners, turbochargers, pumps, radiators, instrumentation and controls)
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment defects, promptly restore equipment to full working order and performance after failures
- Conduct periodic in-house and field training of junior technicians
- Safely operate and maintain a company-owned commercial vehicle
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to 24-hour emergency calls for repairs and service
- Work in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining good housekeeping and adhering to all safety policies, including but not limited to NFPA 70E, lock out/tag out, proper PPE utilization and safe driving practices
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies, including but not limited to OSHA and Department of Transportation (D.O.T) regulations Technical Competencies.
- Strong understanding of reciprocating generator design, including controls, electrical power systems, and heat exchangers. Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, chiller and boiler service experience are advantageous.
- Knowledge of and experience in industrial and power instrumentation and control, strong analytical skills, and an understanding of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action
- Knowledge and experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance practices
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to customers, a high degree of integrity and an ability to earn and sustain customer trust and confidence
- OSHA 10 Certification or the ability to attain one
- Possess and maintains a current, valid state driver’s license.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and on-call hours as required.
- Ability to work in a productive manner in all types of weather and environments.
Required Education and Experience:
- Seven or more years’ experience in generator and engine service, repair, and overhaul.
- Reciprocating engine experience preferred.
- Five or more years’ experience in supervision of technicians engaged in maintenance and repair of complex equipment are advantageous
- OSHA 10 Certification or the ability to attain one
- Possess and maintain a current, valid state driver’s license with a current DOT medical card as required for towing
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and on call hours as required
- Ability to work in a productive manner in all types of weather and environments (rural and urban).
Travel:
60-75%, primarily in the northeast US with routine travel to installations within the continental US and Canada. Extended international travel for initial training and occasional ongoing international travel to maintain factory certification.

Position Summary:
The Senior HVAC/Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership, supervisory oversight, and quality assurance for Controlled Air’s Engineering Department. This position ensures that all HVAC system designs are accurate, innovative, constructible, costaligned, code-compliant, and optimized for long-term serviceability. This role works closely with Design Engineers, Design-Build Sales Engineers, Estimating, Project Management, and Building Automation to review and guide projects in development, ensuring designs meet performance criteria while maximizing value, profitability, and operational efficiency.
The Senior HVAC Engineer establishes engineering standards, mentors and develops engineering staff, and drives continuous improvement to support operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and sustained technical leadership within the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides direct supervision and technical leadership to HVAC Design Engineers.
- Reviews and approves HVAC system designs prior to release for estimating, proposal submission, or construction.
- Ensures load calculations, equipment sizing, ductwork, piping layouts, and energy modeling are accurate and defensible.
- Works closely with Design-Build Sales Engineers to review conceptual approaches during project development to confirm feasibility, constructability, and budget alignment.
- Collaborate with estimating to ensure engineered solutions meet customer budget parameters while protecting company profitability.
- Reviews contract documents (drawings, specifications, submittals, etc.) to ensure proper incorporation into coordinated design documents.
- Ensures all designs comply with applicable mechanical, energy, building, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection codes.
- Establishes and maintains internal engineering standards, design review protocols, and quality control procedures.
- Ensures designs minimize installation difficulty and maximize maintainability, operability, safety, and service access.
- Works closely with Project Managers and installation teams to resolve design-related field challenges and update drawings as required.
- Oversee coordination between mechanical design and Building Automation systems to ensure proper system integration and operational performance.
- Manages engineering workload distribution to support proposal turnaround timelines and project schedules.
- Participates in post-project evaluations to review system performance and implement process improvements.
- Stays current with HVAC industry trends, emerging technologies, and new energy solutions to ensure Controlled Air remains competitive and innovative.
- Provides senior-level technical support for complex system troubleshooting and redesign efforts when required.
- May participate in customer meetings to provide technical expertise during advanced design-build discussions.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Direct supervision of HVAC Design Engineers.
Responsible for mentoring, performance evaluation, professional development, and workload coordination within the Engineering Department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years of commercial HVAC design experience.

- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Advanced knowledge of commercial HVAC systems including chilled water, heating hot water, DX systems, ventilation, and energy recovery systems.

The Senior Technician serves as a technical leader within the controls team, driving system implementation, advanced control logic development, energy optimization strategies, and mentoring junior technicians while delivering high-performance control systems that meet the highest industry standards.
Job Functions:
- Lead the development, programming, and commissioning of advanced BAS/BMS solutions in alignment with
customer and engineer specifications - Interpret and execute complex sequences of operation, developing detailed programming logic focused on performance, reliability, and energy efficiency
- Take ownership of assigned projects to ensure timely completion within budget parameters
- Design and implement advanced energy solutions including microgrids, cogeneration systems, hydrogen (H2) integration, and battery storage technologies
